Henry Kimani- Managing Partner
Henry, the main partner is a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance (Bcom), a Certified Public accountant (CPAK) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Henry is a member of Institute of Certified Public Accounts (ICPAK) and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
The above qualifications coupled with extensive medium and short courses on financial reporting, risk management, information technology, people management etc. makes Henry a great resource to our customers.
Owing to his previous role as an audit manager in a financial institution, Henry has amassed extensive experience in internal control assessments, procurement and expenditure reviews and compliance appraisals. Henry is versed with knowledge on derivation of risk management tools in relation to incident reports, loss data collection, risk control and self-assessment tools, Key risk indicators, ability to chart and document an entity’s internal processes covering the entire functions of the organization
A CISA qualification coupled with past experience as Information System Security Manager in financial institution, makes him versed with various IT security matters vis a vis IT governance structures, physical access controls, environmental controls, network infrastructure security, data controls and systems development and documentation controls.
Advanced accounting qualification coupled with knowledge and experience obtained over time from present and past accounting and audit engagements makes him well versed with the International Standards on Auditing as well as the International Financial Reporting Standards. Henry has spent several years auditing organizations and companies in the profit and not for profit sectors and has extensive experience in audit of organizations in the financial services, NGO and commercial sectors
Due to his extensive experience, Henry will be the point person for the assignments and is responsible for quality control.
Christopher Mutunga- Associate
Christopher is a Bachelor’s Degree holder in Business Administration [BBA], Finance option, Certified Public Accountant [CPA-K] and holds a Diploma in Associated Computer Executives [ACE]
He is fully conversant with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), International Standards on Auditing (ISA) and various donor requirements.
Prior to joining Gathogo and Associates, Chris spent over 7 years in some of the leading audit firms in Kenya, where he acted in various capacities and roles. He has successfully lead teams on various engagements on Audit, Accountancy and Tax Advisory.
Chris frequently writes articles and speaks on issues relating to not-for-profit organizations. He continues to take continuing education on the not-for-profit industry, Taxation and International Financial Reporting Standards.
Chris sits on the board of directors and finance committee of a large SACCO in the country.
